01 — Write the task
Pick one action your product should make easier. For example: create a project and add its first task. Write a beginning and an end. Keep secondary features outside this first prototype so you can test the central idea.
02 — Draw the states
Sketch the empty project list, the create-project form and the new project with its first task. Add one error state: a required name left blank. Use simple boxes and real labels before thinking about colour.
03 — Connect the interaction
In your prototyping tool, connect the create button to the form and the successful form to the project view. Make cancel return to the previous screen. Include visible feedback after the task is added so the action has a clear ending.
04 — Put it in someone’s hands
Give someone the task without walking them through the screens. Note missed buttons, unexpected clicks and unclear wording. Revise the flow before expanding it. If you later use AI to build the interface, give it these states and acceptance criteria as part of the brief.
